How can a website grow your business and solve your problems?

Welcome back!

In the last post we talked about the design elements of a website and why they are important to build trust with your audience. As a designer our first tool in building the trust of our clients is in our design. It only takes a fraction of a second for our brains to decide if we want to stay on a website page or to leave, so first impression are everything when designing our landing pages.

So, now what? We have created a beautiful landing page for our clients to arrive but what actions do we want them to take? This is where the collaboration between the designer and the client becomes extremely important. Here is a list of the questions I ask to my clients when designing their site.

  • Who is your target audience?

  • How much are you selling your product/service for?

  • What are your growth goals in the next 3 months, 6 months, year?

  • What problems do you currently have in your business?

  • Do you feel connected to your clients? (do you feel like you have a community in your niche?)

  • What makes your products unique?

  • etc.

The reason for asking these questions is simple. As a designer and web developer I want to do more than just create a website. I want to understand my clients business so that I can have an understanding of how they are making sales, connecting with their clients and operating their business. It is only then that when I can create systems to expand on their strengths and solve problems.

As web designers we have many tools that work in different situations to best address our clients needs. Read on in our next post to find out more about the tools we use to build successful websites for our clients!
